AMC FC — 0
Hippo FC — 2

Hippo FC went on to lift the Sylvia Dube Trophy after dismissing AMC FC by 2 goals to nil at Gibbo Stadium on Saturday, 10th December 2011.

The Sugar Sugar Boys opened their account in the first half when Ronald Pfumbidzai flighted a corner kick to the blind side where Lawrence Khumbula nodded to set up Abel Machaka for the opener.

AMC were quite a determined lot and caused all sorts of anxious moments but failed to find the target. In the dying minutes of the game Codias Siwempi put the game beyond AMC’s reach after some excellent work on the left flank!

In the 3rd and 4th place play offs, Triangle FC beat Mutare United by 2 goals to nil.

Murray MacDougall Christmas Fair

Jewellery StallWhat a weekend it's been—filled with weddings, gatherings, soccer and shopping. The annual Christmas Fair & Lions Car Boot Sale at Murray MacDougall School on Saturday 10th December 2011 was very well attended. The event was held to coincide with the swimming gala, meaning that spectators from across Zimbabwe were there.

Once the gala was over, people flooded the school hall to get down to some serious Christmas shopping. Stalls had everything you could want, including Christmas treats, artistic crafts, fine jewellery, designer bags, fashions, linen, hardware, tools, bric-a-brac and the amazing range of Sh'Zen skincare and beauty products.

When you got tired of shopping - mainly the guys - there was plenty to eat and drink.

Ooh La La

ShoppersThe Tannery in Chiredzi this past weekend hosted a hugely successful event showcasing the range of superior quality products available here in Chiredzi. Local representatives for Honey Jewellery, Angel Lifestyle, Sh'Zen Bodycare and the proudly Zimbabwean, Linen for Africa were there to showcase their extensive ranges.

Shoppers were engulfed in the exquisite scents of the Sh'Zen products, open mouthed at the elaborate pieces of Honey Jewellery and delighted by the complete Angel Lifestyle range. With such a variety of items on offer, trade was brisk and customers spoilt for choice.

Many people commented that, "in Chiredzi, we are not used to such good quality products" and that "usually there's no choice, so we all end up owning the same boring things". One delighted shopper commented that, "the people that missed this are going to be sooooo jealous — it was a whole new thing for Chiredzi. Just perfect. You could shop, eat and relax - even dance - just look at everything I bought."

Murray MacDougall School Celebrates 50 Years

Celebrating 50 yearsMurray MacDougall School in Triangle celebrated it's 50 year anniversary this past Saturday (19th November 2011) with a very extravagant evening. Lana Pinto and her team transformed the school and nearby sports field into a spectacular venue.

The entertainment commenced with the school Marimba Band and the Choir giving exceptional performances. These were followed by a wonderful poem written by the current Head Girl.

The headmaster, Mr A Gibson, welcomed the various guests, parents and past pupils with a brief history of the school:

  • The school opened in 1961 with fourteen children. It was initially housed in MacDougall's old workshop/wagon shed.
  • With fifty-one children, the school moved to a newly built house on Stanley Cooke Road in 1962.
  • By the third term of 1962, the school moved to it's current location. These were built by Triangle Limited and staffed by the government.
  • In 1978 the company decided to make the school private.
  • Mr Gibson joined the new private school In 1979.
  • Today there are 263 children at Murray MacDougall School.

Marjorie, who had been Head Girl at the school 25 years previously, shared a few of her memories and gave a toast to the school. The official proceedings were closed with a vote of thanks by Mrs M Marisa. However, with plenty of refreshments and a live band, the celebration went on well into the early hours.

Acturus FC — 1
Hippo FC — 4

The Sugar Sugar Boys did us proud once again, this time away from home! We demolished Acturus in their own backyard! Abel Machaka grabbed a brace while Dominc Chungwa (the leading scorer) and Davis Kamanga got one each to make them four! This is quite positive as we prepare for the Sylvia Dube finals and the 2012 season.

Well done Team Hippo FC!

On the 4th of December we are scheduled to play a PSL Select side (comprising former Lowveld players) in the Jephta Matende Memorial challenge at Chishamiso. On the 11th of December, we shall hold our Annual Awards Ceremony. Earlier on in the afternoon of the same day, the Sir Raymond Trophy finals will be held at Chishamiso then we’ll have the awards function starting at 1730hrs! We’ll keep you posted on these events.

Hippo FC — 6
Murambinda United FC — 0

Davis Kamanga hit the back of the net 4 times and Dominic Chungwa and Lawrence Khumbula were also on target as Hippo mauled Murambinda on Saturday afternoon. The boys took a commanding 5 nil lead going into half time and took their foot off the pedal in the second half owing to some crude tackles from the opposing team!

This was good shooting practice for the boys as we prepare for the Sylvia Dube finals. The date and venue for the Sylvia Dube finals is yet to be confirmed by the sponsors.

At Sakubva, Triangle held Buffaloes 1-1! Well done to team TUFC for the remarkable result.
