Hippo FC — 0 Hippo won 3 -1 after a penalty shoot-out! It took the dreaded penalty shoot-out to separate the two brothers! 1-1 in the first league match PaMuuyu, 2-2 in the reverse fixture at Gibbo and 0-0 after Extra time PaMuuyu!!!! It was quite a pulsating game of football which almost got ruined by the rain and massive wind towards the end of the first half of the match. We missed a few chances in the first half before the wind took control and swung the match in Triangle’s favour! So powerful was the wind that we almost lost to it! In the end Simon Kafitire, our Goalkeeper was the hero of the day! He saved two penalties while the other went astray to make it 3 misses for Triangle! Hippo FC converted all their efforts through Codias, Goodmore & Dominic! Simon made up for the blunder against Triangle in the first leg that resulted in the draw earlier on in the season. For the 3rd time in the last 4 years, Hippo FC has made it to the finals of the Sylvia Dube Trophy! For those with good memories, we lifted the 2009 edition but the question is CAN WE GO AHEAD AND LIFT IT AGAIN THIS YEAR?? The results from other matches were as follows: Sylvia Dube Cup
Mbada Diamonds One Million Dollar Trophy
Condolences On a sad note, we would like to notify you of the untimely passing on of two individuals who made some contributions to our local game! Both of them died in two separate vehicle accidents this past weekend. Collen Nzombe was a member of the Hippo FC Executive Committee until he resigned from the business and left for Mozambique during the harsh economic conditions in 2009. May his soul rest in peace. Washington Chapamba was an active member of Chiredzi City Stars and played in the recent 0-0 draw against Hippo FC in Chishamiso. He was a player groomed within the local boundaries and will be sadly missed. May his soul rest in peace. |
